Over the Air (OTA) Digital TV in Canada

Over the Air or OTA television stations as they are sometimes referred to as, have only become available in Canada since September 2011. This was the date that most broadcasters in the larger cities in Canada were legislated to begin transmitting their television signals digitally. In these larger cities it is now possible with only a simple antenna and a television with a digital tuner to pick up High Definition television signals at no charge. Depending on your programming preferences it may be possible to eliminate your cable and satellite connection, saving you hundreds of dollars each year.
