According to an internal report posted by 9to5Mac, Apple is tracking an issue related to the connectivity of WiFi only new iPads. The report instructs Apple Store and call center employees to “… replace affected units”; it is likely these affected units will be shipped back to Apple so that engineers can examine them more closely in their labs. The issue has been mentioned on many forum’s where users complain about the weaker WiFi reception on the latest generation iPad compared to older iPads or laptop computers. Apparently the reception on the 4G LTE models are not affected due to the additional back panel antenna. If you are experiencing WiFi connection drops or poor performance on Apple’s latest and greatest iPad then you may want to contact your local Apple Store to get a replacement.
