Free Classical Music Concerts

For those of you who like classical music you are in for a real treat if you go to the “NAC MUSICBOX” website. The site provides archival recordings of more than 150 performances, mostly live, of the National Art Centre (NAC) of Canada orchestra since its first season in 1969-1970. Performances can be chosen by searching various fields, including: time period, nationality of composer, title of piece, soloist or composer. Another option for you to browse the collection is to go to the “TIMELINE” page, in this section the music collection is mapped onto to a timeline spanning from 2009 all the way back to 1710. Once you have found your favourites you can add them to your own playlist and then sit back and enjoy. In addition to the actual recordings, the site also provides information on the performers, the composers and the music style being performed. It is a great educational tool for all ages.
