Apple to debut it own version of “Maps” for iOS 6

Given there is no love lost between Apple and Google, it is not surprising to hear that Cupertino will be relying on its own in-house mapping application in the next version of iOS. 9to5 Mac reported that the new navigation app to be called “Maps”, will rely on technologies and the database that Apple obtained from it recent acquisitions of Placebase, C3 Technologies and Poly9. According to the post, it will include a 3D mode, developed by C3 Technologies, that will provide realistic graphics based on missle target algorithms. It is expected that iOS 6 will be introduced at Apple’s World Wide Developers Conference in June and will feature the new home-grown mapping application.
