Mountain Lion likely to be released on July 25

Although Apple said that the next version of OS would launch in July, it did not give a specific date. Speculation now has it that Mountain Lion would be released on July 25, the day after Apple releases it third quarter earnings since it made a similar announcement last year. Mountain Lion offers a number of improvements, notably, Notification Center, Gatekeeper and Apple’s Messages app. As well, the upgrade brings to its desktop OS some of the functionality of iOS, its mobile operating system. The upgrade will cost $19.99, while it will be free for those who recently bought the latest generation of MacBooks released last month.
